Artist Statement
Color and beauty of nature inspires me on a daily basis. The effect of light reflecting on water just amazes me... To capture that nuance, that essence of a moment in time. When you really see your surroundings, the contrast,the hues,the values come together like...a poem.
Artist Bio
A Northern Michigan native, Lori Feldpausch has had a life long interest in art. Her experience in different media's include, murals, acrylics, faux painting, mosaic glass, water colors and oils. After moving to Marshall Michigan, she apprenticed with a Muralist who had recently moved from New York City. Over the next 10 years she gained experiences in color mixing, and layout design. She was involved and helped manage projects with a Muralist at, The Breakers Hotel Palm Beach Florida (6 murals in ball room of 19th Century Venice, faux marbleized pillars, wainscoting and a celestial ceiling), The Plaza Hotel, New York (the scope of this project included 18 murals of early 20th Century Central Park scenes, a mural for the Garden Room with roses and 6 cloud panels, A large scale rose design for Grand Ball Room with a reproduction of intricate frieze of gold leaf, adding a large vaulted ceiling consisting of lattice with rose border in the vestibule), The Green brier Hotel White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia (this large project involved restoring a 1920's historical mural of the Green brier area), a mural of St. Andrews golf course and some private home and community projects in Gross Point and Marshall Michigan. Currently Feldpausch has translated this reservoir of expertise and background into her current works of mixed media, acrylics, water colors and oils as she is drawing on refining this wide new form of self expression. Her paintings can be found in the following Galleries, Greenstreet Arts and the Garden Theater Shops in Marshall Michigan, The Cycling Salamander in Charlevoix Michigan, The Gaslight Gallery in Petoskey Michigan. She is a member of the Great Lakes Plein Aire Painters Association and is studying under master painter Sharon Griffs Tarr. Painting outdoors in the Detour area is her passion.
